Principles and Issues
Why is the parental rights issue so important?
Many parents tell me that they want to be the ultimate decision-maker for their children. They don't want government, educators, or other special-interest groups dictating what they or their children must do. Rights of parents extend not only to decision making but also knowing about things that affect their children. This applies to things coming from the board (e.g. policies, decisions, procedures, etc.) as well as educators (e.g. curriculum). The visibility easy to access, readily available, and transparent (i.e. complete and full disclosure, not just summarized and without missing information).
Should masks be mandated in Hamilton School District schools?
No. Studies and scientific evidence have proven what we've suspected from the beginning, namely that masking children doesn't prevent the spread of viruses and it actually can do more harm than good. Regardless of whether or not you believe this is true, the decision for masking students should be a parental one.
Should vaccines be mandated?
No. Parents are accountable for their children's health, and any medical decision should be left to the parents.
